Maxwell Rosen
Lab Intern, Salk Institute · Chemical Engineering, UC San Diego · GPA 3.98
I'm an undergraduate researcher at the Salk Institute's Ecker Lab, building Raspberry Pi–based imaging systems to phenotype 200+ plants at scale. I'm studying Chemical Engineering with a minor in Business Economics at UC San Diego.
About Me
My Story
I'm Maxwell Rosen, a Chemical Engineering student at UC San Diego (Class of 2028) with a minor in Business Economics. I'm drawn to the intersection of engineering, biology, and technology — places where disciplined quantitative thinking meets real-world complexity.
Currently I work as a Lab Intern in the Ecker Lab at the Salk Institute, where I design and deploy Raspberry Pi–based high-throughput imaging systems to monitor plant growth across 200+ samples under variable environmental stress. It's hands-on engineering work with direct scientific impact — exactly the kind of problem I love sinking my teeth into.
Outside the lab, I stay grounded through running, hiking, great food, and a steady diet of science fiction. I'm always looking for the next interesting problem to solve — feel free to reach out.
