My Story

I'm Maxwell Rosen, a Chemical Engineering student at UC San Diego (Class of 2028) with a minor in Business Economics. I'm drawn to the intersection of engineering, biology, and technology — places where disciplined quantitative thinking meets real-world complexity.

Currently I work as a Lab Intern in the Ecker Lab at the Salk Institute, where I design and deploy Raspberry Pi–based high-throughput imaging systems to monitor plant growth across 200+ samples under variable environmental stress. It's hands-on engineering work with direct scientific impact — exactly the kind of problem I love sinking my teeth into.

Outside the lab, I stay grounded through running, hiking, great food, and a steady diet of science fiction. I'm always looking for the next interesting problem to solve — feel free to reach out.

Interests & Hobbies

The things I love to do when I'm not working.

🚀
Science Fiction
Whether it's a novel or a film, I'm drawn to stories that ask "what if?" Sci-fi fuels my curiosity about the future of technology, society, and what it means to be human.
🏃
Running
Running is my reset button. There's something clarifying about putting one foot in front of the other — it's where I do some of my best thinking.
🥾
Hiking
Southern California has no shortage of great trails. I love getting out into the hills and finding views that remind me how big the world actually is.
